An electric tool is a tool that is operated by an additional power source and mechanism. The most common types of electric tools use an electric motor such as an internal combustion engine or compressed air. Other power sources include steam engines, direct combustion of fuels and rocket fuels, such as in powder-actuated tools, or even natural power sources, such as wind or moving water. Tools directly powered by animals are generally not considered power tools.
